Autumn is officially here which means goodbye bathing
suits and HELLO oversized knits and jeans…..thank goodness! Of course we
should still try and make those healthy choices but let’s be serious, it’s Thanksgiving and I AM
GOING TO CHEAT.
Whether your family can sit comfortably at the table
or your bumping elbows- the holidays always seem to bring an abundance of food
to the table. Thus testing our self-control when it comes to food. Don’t get me
wrong I am an advocate for maintaining a healthy lifestyle but at the same time
I believe it is important to enjoy yourself. So try not to feel too guilty when
you decide your stomach has room for seconds because there is more than enough
time to hit the gym or skim back on the desserts after this weekend.
Here are a few tips to help with the
Thanksgiving guilt:
1) Since there are usually lots
of pre-dinner snacks, try and avoid things you can have all year round (candy,
chips etc.)
2) When dinner is ready, fill
your plate with the largest portions being vegetables and make those savory
items a smaller helping
3) If your planning on having dessert
but also feel like you have room for seconds, maybe stick with a second scoop
of vegetables or a smaller piece of pie
4) Most importantly, enjoy your
time with your family and friends
because at the end of the day that is what Thanksgiving is all about
I am thankful for my family
because I can always count on them for love and support!
What are you
thankful for this year??
Ps. If
we learned anything from Joey on “Friends”
it was to stick to an elastic waist-band during Thanksgiving dinner :)
